From the Archives; The First Newsletter, May 1958

“The annual meeting of the Eastern Regional Sacred Dance Association was held Feb. 10, 1958 at the Unitarian Church in Winchester.  ….  “  “The new by-laws were read and discussed at length, much time being spent on the question of a suitable name for our organization. 

It was voted that the name of the organization shall be – “The Sacred Dance Guild”.

I am obsessed with the Divine Dance. My dance led and moved me from childhood, into the UCLA Dance Department, through seminary and seminary teaching, into Body and Soul Dance Company, and on to cofound InterPlay with Phil Porter.

My Journey with Sacred Dance

It is strange to look back at my journey with sacred dance and see how what seemed to be a random set of circumstances now look like inevitable steps that have taken me where I am now.
For me, the central passion to create all art is quite simply to form a channel for the “sweet honey in the rock”, the flow between the Divine and the self. It has always been my central spiritual practice.

Holy Spirit and the Astonishing Shift from Live Dance to…Virtually There

“We soon realized the opportunities for international group movement collaboration were greater than ever before,” said Marilyn Green of the Guild and Trinity Movement Choir, “and those who were unable to fly into New York were now able to participate. Suddenly there were possibilities of dance offerings here and abroad that could be included.
